Paulina Hernandez, MD

Hi! I’m Dr. Hernandez. I’m a native El Pasoan. As someone who was born and raised on the border, I am always trying to be involved with my community. Ever since I can remember I wanted to be a doctor— Specifically, I wanted to be a pediatrician. I never saw myself as anything else. After I graduated from high school, I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Biology with honors at St. Edwards University in Austin, TX in 2008. Afterwards, I graduated from medical school at Universidad Autonoma de Ciudad Juarez and subsequently completed a year of medical internship and another year of social service. In 2017, I started my General Pediatrics Residency training at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, El Paso, TX, and graduated in 2020. During this time I had the honor of being the Chief Resident in Pediatrics. I subsequently worked as a pediatric hospitalist at El Paso Children’s Hospital where I practiced inpatient medicine, attended high risk deliveries, and took care of intermediate care newborn babies.

My pledge to the community is to always provide quality medical care, and be the voice and advocate for children. I am passionate about my work and hope to spread the love to every single one of my patients.

Lindsey Herrera. MD

Hi! I’m Dr. Lindsey Herrera, a board-certified pediatrician with a heart for providing compassionate, comprehensive care to children of all ages. I’ve had the privilege of serving families in El Paso since 2021, and I’m thrilled to now be seeing patients through my own practice—Lindsey Herrera, MD Pediatrics—in collaboration with Smart Start Pediatrics.

My practice offers a hybrid model of care, blending the convenience of concierge home visits with the familiarity of traditional in-office appointments at the Smart Start location. Whether you prefer to be seen at home or in the clinic, my goal is to meet families where they are and provide personalized, accessible care every step of the way.

I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin, earned my medical degree from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, and trained in pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine, working at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. I have a special interest in newborn care, adolescent health, and preventive medicine, and I’m certified to perform newborn circumcisions and place Nexplanon birth control implants.

As a mom to two young daughters (and two lovable dogs), I know how important it is to have a pediatrician you trust—someone who listens, follows through, and truly cares. My husband and I are raising our family here in El Paso, and I’m so honored to walk alongside other families in this community.
